Nuestra Señora de la Merced
Dear Friends of Frassati,
The canonization of Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati is not the end of our journey but the beginning of a new mission entrusted to us by God. As the Frassati Society Philippines, we remain rooted in the service of the poor and the sick, following the luminous example of our patron, Pier Giorgio, who once said: “Around the poor and the sick, I see a light that we do not have”
Pope Leo XIV, in his homily during the canonization of Saints Pier Giorgio and Carlo Acutis, reminded us that “the simple but winning formula of their holiness [is] accessible to everyone at any time.” Inspired by these words, the Society has been discerning ways for each devotee, friend, and promoter of Saint Pier Giorgio to live this path of accessible holiness in daily life.
With this in mind, we propose to start and invite you to join us in a Nine-Month Journey of Mercy and Charity, beginning October 4, 2025 until June 4, 2026, nine months before we celebrate Pier Giorgio’s feast day for the first time as a canonized saint.
On the 4th day of each month, we encourage everyone whether by group or by oneself to dedicate time for prayer and service to the poor and the sick. We shall unite in Acts of Mercy by praying the Holy Rosary and the Prayer for the Poor and the Sick (see prayers below).
Furthermore, let us mark two special dates with concrete Acts of Charity:
• April 6, 2026 – the Birth Anniversary of Pier Giorgio: A day dedicated to the poor.
• May 20, 2026 – the Anniversary of his Beatification: A day dedicated to the sick.
On these days, we ask each member, friend, and devotee to perform at least one act of kindness through the Corporal or Spiritual Works of Mercy, in union with the whole Frassati family.
This endeavor is not simply a program but a path of love. As Pope Leo XIV exhorted: “Saints Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis are an invitation to all of us, especially young people, not to squander our lives, but to direct them upwards and make them masterpieces”
May this initiative help us, like Pier Giorgio, to make our lives a masterpiece of charity and faith, living out what he loved to say: “To live without faith, without a patrimony to defend, without a steady struggle for truth, is not living but existing.”
Let us walk together, as friends of Frassati, towards Christ, through the poor and the sick who are His presence among us. Verso l’alto!
