For Blessed Pier Giorgio, friendships were the source of great affections after that of the family. He considered friendships as some of the greatest gifts given by God. Pier Giorgio befriended many people and saw it as a way to bring others closer to God and the Church. He bonded with his friends in his willingness to give and share with them, as well as in receiving from them help and prayers.

On May 18, 1924, Pier Giorgio organized the Tipi Loschi Society, which was formed by his closest friends. Their main objective was to organize hiking or other outdoor activities to foster deeper bonds with each other. “Tipi Loschi” can be translated into “shady characters” or “sinister ones,” reflecting the group’s sense of humor. The group also gave nicknames to each other, like Pier Giorgio calling his friend Ernestina, “Englesina” after her trip to the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, Pier Giorgio was called “Robespierre” by his best friend Marco Beltramo. This reflects how Pier Giorgio was filled with joy that he shared with his friends and was able to balance it with a deep spirituality and faith.
